Peter Goetz is a software developer at IBM and contributor to Cloud Foundry. He recently published a Medium post called “Why we rewrote the Cloud Foundry Bits-Service in Go” in which he discusses the reasons his team decided to rewrite the Cloud Foundry Incubator Bits-Service in Go.

His post asserts that rewriting the bits service in Go was the right choice — not only for the sake of writing it in the trendy language Go, but to resolve real issues, such as design, operational aspects and developer productivity. Along with this decision came some unexpected benefits.
