CVE-2020-5402: UAA fails to check the state parameter when authenticating with external IDPs

Description

In Cloud Foundry UAA, versions prior to 74.14.0, a CSRF vulnerability exists due to the OAuth2 state parameter not being checked in the callback function when authenticating with external identity providers.

Affected Cloud Foundry Products and Versions

Severity is high unless otherwise noted.

  • CF Deployment
    • All versions prior to v12.33.0
  • UAA Release (OSS)
    • All versions prior to v74.14.0

Mitigation

Users of affected products are strongly encouraged to follow the mitigations below. The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:

  • CF Deployment
    • Upgrade All versions to v12.33.0 or greater
  • UAA Release (OSS)
    • Upgrade All versions to v74.14.0 or greater
