Founder of Cloud Education Non-Profit Takes On Certification Programs
SAN FRANCISCO, May 5, 2016– Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications, today announced Tim Harris as Director of Certification Programs, in support of the existing Cloud Foundry Certified PaaS program and forthcoming programs.
“Cloud Foundry certification provides the promise of portability and flexibility, allowing true multi-cloud computing,” said Harris. “As we extend certification programs for Cloud Foundry developers and operators, we can continue to build and reward our rapidly growing community. Together these programs represent a unique opportunity to push this community to even broader success and adoption.”
In addition to more than 20 years in the technology industry, Harris brings his technical know-how and enthusiasm for cloud computing as the founder of Cumulus Minds, a non-profit that is helping orphans in developing economies to find careers in IT, through hands-on app development experience and job placement services. In more than seven years at VMware as Director of Validation Services, Harris ran an engineering team focused on platform adoption for partners and helped to drive certification around that partner ecosystem. He has spent time at Oracle and NASA Ames, and holds a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh, where he was also a founding member of the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre.
