Description

David Leadbeater discovered that less was not properly handling escape sequences when displaying raw control characters. A maliciously formed OSC 8 hyperlink could be used by an attacker to perform a denial of service. Update Instructions: Run `sudo pro fix USN-5848-1` to fix the vulnerability. The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: less – 590-1ubuntu0.22.04.1 No subscription required

Mitigation

Users of affected products are strongly encouraged to follow the mitigations below.

The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:

  • cflinuxfs4
    • Upgrade all versions to 0.63.0 or greater
  • Jammy Stemcells
    • Upgrade v1.x versions to 1.93 or greater
    • All other stemcells should be upgraded to the latest version available on bosh.io.
  • CF Deployment
    • For all versions, upgrade Jammy Stemcells to 1.93 or greater
