USN-6119-1: OpenSSL vulnerabilities

Description

Matt Caswell discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled certain ASN.1 object identifiers. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause OpenSSL to consume resources, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2023-2650) Anton Romanov discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled AES-XTS cipher decryption on 64-bit ARM platforms. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause OpenSSL to crash, resulting in a denial of service. This issue only affected Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Ubuntu 22.10, and Ubuntu 23.04. (CVE-2023-1255) Update Instructions: Run `sudo pro fix USN-6119-1` to fix the vulnerability. Mitigation

Users of affected products are strongly encouraged to follow the mitigations below. The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:

  • Bionic Stemcells
    • Upgrade 1.x versions to 1.204 or greater
    • All other stemcells should be upgraded to the latest version available on bosh.io.
  • cflinuxfs3
    • Upgrade all versions to 0.369.0 or greater
  • cflinuxfs4
    • Upgrade all versions to 1.13.0 or greater
  • Jammy Stemcells
    • Upgrade 1.x versions to 1.125 or greater
    • All other stemcells should be upgraded to the latest version available on bosh.io.
  • CF Deployment
    • Upgrade all versions to 30.0.0 or greater, upgrade Jammy Stemcells to 1.125 or greater, and upgrade Bionic Stemcells to 1.204 or greater
