CVE-2021-22101: Cloud Controller is vulnerable to unauthenticated denial of service

Description

Cloud Controller versions prior to 1.118.0 are vulnerable to unauthenticated denial of Service(DoS) vulnerability. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to cause denial of service by using REST HTTP requests with label_selectors on multiple V3 endpoints generating an enormous SQL query leading to database (ccdb) unavailability.

Affected Cloud Foundry Products and Versions

Severity is high unless otherwise noted.

  • CAPI
    • All versions prior to 1.118.0
  • CF Deployment
    • All versions prior to 16.24.0

Mitigation

Users of affected products are strongly encouraged to follow the mitigations below. The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:

  • CAPI
    • Upgrade all versions to 1.118.0 or greater
  • CF Deployment
    • Upgrade all versions to 16.24.0 or greater
