Description

USN-5583-1 fixed vulnerabilities in systemd. Unfortunately this caused a regression by introducing netowrking problems for some users. This update fixes the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience. Original advisory details: It was discovered that systemd incorrectly handled certain DNS requests, which leads to user-after-free vulnerability. An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a crash or execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2022-2526) Update Instructions: Run `sudo ua fix USN-5583-2` to fix the vulnerability.     • All versions prior to 21.11.0, or later versions with Bionic Stemcells prior to 1.107

Mitigation

Users of affected products are strongly encouraged to follow the mitigations below. The Cloud Foundry project recommends upgrading the following releases:

  • Bionic Stemcells
    • Upgrade 1.x versions to 1.107 or greater
    • All other stemcells should be upgraded to the latest version available on bosh.io.
  • cflinuxfs3
    • Upgrade all versions to 0.323.0 or greater
  • CF Deployment
    • Upgrade all versions to 21.11.0 or greater and upgrade Bionic Stemcells to 1.107 or greater
