Mark Your EU Summit Calendar: The Diversity Luncheon is for Everyone

Since last year’s Diversity Luncheon in Basel, there has been a sea change in the way we talk about gender in the workplace. So much of what women have been forced to bury — the microaggressions, the harassment, the coded language, the glass ceiling — is being uncovered through the Me Too movement, as though men are finally holding the paper up to the ultraviolet light and making the invisible ink visible. Telling the stories can be cathartic, but it can also be overwhelming — both for the women telling them and for the people hearing them for the first time.

But it’s vital that we show up and continue the conversation. That’s why we’re inviting you to the Diversity Luncheon at Cloud Foundry Summit in Basel. This event is for everyone — to learn and listen from the line-up of incredible panelists who will be speaking about their experiences and from Episode One: Eighty Twenty of the Chasing Grace Project, a docuseries produced and directed by Jennifer Cloer of Wicked Flicks Productions.

The focus of this year’s luncheon is the central topic of the episode: the gender pay gap, which can lead to $1 million in lost wages over the course of a woman’s career, not to mention the profound emotional deficit brought on by the feeling she is always chasing something she cannot attain. This is a tangible manifestation of gender inequality in the workplace that disproportionately affects women of color and transgender employees. We invite everyone to attend this event to learn how you can make a difference.

We encourage attendees who have never attended the Diversity Luncheon to join us and engage in a new conversation. Please register ahead of time for the luncheon, which is on Thursday, October 11, at 12:25 PM, and generously sponsored by Google and IBM.

See you in Basel!
